There is a world of science data that reveals a lot about the world we live in. It leads to new inventions and informs government policies and decision-making. Many people assume that data is objective and unbiased – but is this really so? Like a game of ‘Broken Telephone’ as information is spread, for example through social media, this message often gets distorted. In this workshop, participants will get to play with science data. We have chosen data that reveals some of the reasons why females face barriers in tech. Participants will see what stories they can find and tell, by becoming ‘Reporters from the Future’. Does everyone tell the same story, or how do our own interests and experiences affect what we tell?
